(今回のブログはなぜか、ですます調で。)
My booth's name was "Yo Yamazaki's bookbinding class", I sold book binding tools, some of my written books which I have had published and some catalogs from my past class exhibitions.
I am not a good planner and I find it difficult to do things spontaneously.
I never know exactly what I want to do. So my actions are slow.
This time Emily mailed me before she came to Japan. She told me in an email "Now I will apply for the fair how about you ?" (Emily is a one of my students from Beijin. Now she is staying with me in my house.)
After receiving this mail I decided to apply for the fair, and I passed.
The things I wanted to sell were mostly the same as the class exhibition I presented just before in June.
So I didn't need to hurry.
And the result was ?
It was fun and satisfying !
When my bookmaking friends participated at
The codex, they enjoyed it very much.
I imagined that their feelings were something like mine at this time. (TABF is an Art book fair and The codex is an Artist book fair. These two are very different I think.)
I was not a visitor but an exhibitor, I had my own booth. When I visited other booths that I was interested in, I spoke with the exhibitors and I introduced myself. Soon I could make ongoing relationships.??
It was so nice. I want to go to another book fare abroad.
There were many more visitors and exhibitors from abroad than I had imagined. So many people came from different countries. I made a bilingual folding business card for this book fare, that was good.
Recently I have occasionally taught bookbinding abroad. I had gradually felt that my English was no good. I started to write my blog with english translations. Then after I decided to take online lessons where my teacher checks my translations. I always speak out and play using English. I find it easy to speak even though it is bad English. I also enjoy other languages especially Chinese. Because I have a Chinese guest at my house, my Chinese increases little by little.
In these several years some persons had been helping me. It looks something like a team.
They always help and advice me. On the third day we changed the display more higher. As result I could demonstrate binding, the visitors could find us easier.
Every day so many peple came. This is the first floor. ( I was on the B2 floor)
Many exhibitors sold books, but I sold tools too. It was unique. I like unique. I thought how many people interested of handmade bookbinding tools. Many art book lovers came. There were one or two times when so many people came and the place were very crowded but we had nothing to do and so free.
In the other hand my tool user came, she said " Sometimes I taught bookbinding, some people from abroad asked me where can we buy this tool." I felt really happy.
So I must open my web shop soon.
